How Loose Leaf Tea Balanced My Hormones

Back in 2021, I got off birth control after having been on it for almost 10 years! For a lot of us women, we can relate to that, I think. I had a lot of underlying symptoms I didn't realize were from the birth control that I just lived with and chalked it up to that is how my body is. WRONG. Boy was I wrong. I was experiencing bloating, still having painful cycles, large cystic acne on my forehead and around my mouth, and those mood swings were something else, needless to say. So, one day I woke up and I just stopped taking it. THIS IS NOT a post to encourage you to do anything like what I did. In fact, most doctors recommend you don't stop cold turkey. (Please consult your doctor if you are considering stopping your medications.) At the time, I had no knowledge of the sorts. But after I came off of it, I experienced even worse side effects because my body hadn't been given the chance to naturally balance itself in about 10 years.

Then, as any 20 year old would do, I pinterest'd all my natural options to balance myself out. Herbal tea. Sounds a bit sketchy right? Don't worry, no medicinal drugs here folks, only garden grown herbs...like lavender and peppermint to give you some examples in case you're still questioning me, haha.

At this time, I began to fall in love with gardening (thanks mom for teaching me to have a somewhat viable green thumb, you def are still teaching me things!). Last year in 2023, I started the biggest herb garden I had ever grown! I mean, we had TOO MANY herbs at times! I would harvest herbs weekly, hang them to dry, and then blend them to make herbal teas! I even had people buying fresh herbs from me because I had to get rid of so many of them! BUT, all that to say, I researched a lot and started planting herbs that I could use in a multitude of different teas. My mom was a big part of my tea journey. She tried them all for me, helped me research, and thanks to her creative bone that God gave her, she helped put a lot of the final touches on them. To this day, my mom enjoys creating herbal teas with bountiful herbs that work so well together!

Now, we sell an entire herbal collection that we created and drink ourselves in our own homes! One of my favorite ones that we make is our Antea-Inflammatory blend. I do echocardiography as my full time job, and I have scoliosis in my back and was diagnosed with a rare bone disease when I was 11. To this day, the business and stress of life can cause inflammation in my body, but I refuse to take any over the counter medication. Instead, I use tea to reduce any inflammation in my body. This tea contains a blend of nettle leaf, holy basil, rose hips, ginger & orange peel that creates a soothing effect throughout the body. Holy basil aids in relief of chronic inflammation while supporting a healthy heart. I mean, it's an all-in-one!

Another tea that I love is our Menstrual tea. I'm 25, this tea saves me when mother nature rolls around, but it's not just good for the mid-20 gals. The Menstrual tea can also help women who are going through menopause! It contains nettle leaf which is a great herb all around when it comes to our cycles! It is rich in iron, helping to balance healthy blood flow during your period. It is also helpful in regulating hormone levels, bloating, & breast tenderness. Raspberry leaf is not only wonderful for those who are pregnant, but for those who are NOT pregnant, it relieves muscle cramps, specifically in the uterus! WHHATTTT! Other benefits are: mood balance, prevention of acne, relieves adrenal fatigue, regulates hormones, reduces menstrual cramping & regulating menstrual cycles. It also contains hibiscus which is an anti-inflammatory herb that also relieves menstrual cramps, peppermint leaves that create a soothing response in the body and ginger root that is an incredible herb for reducing the pain experienced with menstrual cramps.

So! As you can see, herbal teas have several benefits to the body that far outweigh over the counter medications that only can cause organ dysfunction with chronic usage. If you're not a regular tea drinker, it may be a little strange to you at first and might even taste weird. But with time, as with anything else, the more consistent you are with your tea drinking, the better it gets and you'll get to reap the amazing benefits of all the herbs! I promise it's worth it!

If you're interested in buying or trying some of our herbal teas, you can find them all with listed ingredients and benefits under our Loose Leaf Tea tab on our website!
